Day 7:  The Paralytic and the Scribes

GOD'S AUTHORITY IS GREATER THAN RELIGIOUS PREFERENCES

Jesus told a paralytic that his sins were forgiven. The scribes accused Him inwardly of blasphemy. Jesus knew their thoughts and asked why they thought evil in their hearts. He then healed the man to demonstrate His authority to forgive sins. (Matthew 9:2–8; Mark 2:1–12; Luke 5:17–26).

The scribes were more offended by authority they did not control than moved by a man being restored.

Wisdom does not defend its religious system against the works of God. When God forgives, heals, restores, and sets men free, we submit to His authority instead of protecting our own position.
